
Squad Criteria
Junior Squad: 7-12 Years

Minimum 90% attendance at swim sessions

Attendance at gym session is a mandatory requirement (please note: proper gym footwear is required - no crocs)

High standard of front crawl is essential and be able to perform the other 3 strokes competently including streamlining

Stretching after every session for 10 minutes minimum is recommended

Swimmers will be aiming to qualify for Leinster galas

Swimmers should demonstrate a positive attitude and work ethic

Swimmers are expected to compete at club and regional meets.

Swimmers and parents should be aware of Age Group Squad Criteria

Coaches decision is Final.
*** Not all Junior Squad swimmers will be selected to progress to Age Group, only those that have demonstrated good performance, attendance & Attitude, and fit within the age profile
Age Group Squad: 11-14 Years
- Swimmers entering age group would usually be within 5 - 10 % of Regional and/or National Qualifying times
- Efficient and effectiveness through all 4 strokes
- Swimmers must be mentally and physically prepared for hard and challenging workloads
- Swimmers must demonstrate a positive attitude and work ethic
- Swimmers and parents are expected to communicate openly and honestly with coaches.
- Punctuality at all sessions is expected. (be on the pool bank 10 -15 minutes before session)
- Swimmers must prepare correctly, pre pool loosen - 10 -15 minutes prior to session start
- Swimmers must recover correctly, post pool stretch - 10 minutes minimum after the session
- Swimmer is expected to compete at Regional & National meets that they qualify for
- Swimmers and parents should be aware of Senior Squad Criteria
- Attendance: Minimum 90% attendance is a mandatory requirement. (including all morning sessions)
- Every six months, a review will take place. Swimmers with less than 70% attendance without a valid reason will no longer be eligible to remain in the squad
- Attendance at gym sessions is a mandatory requirement.
- For international meets / camps: attendance will be a criteria used in selection
- Progression Criteria:
- Swimmers who do not qualify for the National Age Group Championships for two consecutive seasons may no longer be eligible to remain in the squad
- Gala entries by COACHES ONLY
- Coaches’ decision is Final.
Senior Squad: 13 Years+
- Swimmers must have at least 2 National Qualifying Times to be considered (not consideration times)
- Swimmers must retain 2 National Qualifying times to stay on senior squad the following year
- Minimum 90% attendance is a mandatory requirement. (including all morning sessions)
- Punctuality at all sessions is expected.
- Swimmers are usually Regional Medalists and/or National Medalists, or have achieved a top 10 finish in their age category.
- Sessions are allocated /tailored to Swimmers by the Head Coach & Assistant Head Coach
- Swimmers must be mentally and physically prepared for hard and challenging workloads
- Swimmers must demonstrate a positive attitude and work ethic
- Swimmers and parents are expected to communicate openly and honestly with coaches.
- Swimmers must prepare correctly, pre pool loosen - 10 -15 minutes prior to session start
- Swimmers must recover correctly, post pool stretch - 10 minutes minimum after the session
- Swimmers must compete at Regional & National meets that they qualify for - adequate notice must be given should the swimmer not be available to compete.
- For international meets / camps: attendance will be a criteria used in selection
- Gala entries by COACHES ONLY
- Coaches decision is Final.
On November 29th, all of our competitive squads will take to the pool at Sportslink for our Annual Swimathon!
This event is a highlight of our club calendar - a day where swimmers of all ages and abilities come together to set personal goals, challenge their endurance, and celebrate everything we love about swimming.
